Halal Pesa
Halal Pesa is the first Shari’ah-compliant digital financing product powered by M-PESA in partnership with Gulf African Bank Ltd.
It was created for Muslim customers who avoid conventional lending products, as Shari’ah law does not permit borrowing with interest. Instead, Halal Pesa uses the Tawarruq model, where customers access a facility rather than a loan.

Please note: Halal Pesa is no longer open for new registrations or facilities. Customers who had already opted in can continue to repay existing facilities.
How to Repay Your Facility
If you are in possession of the borrowing phone number:
- Dial *334#
- Select Loans & Savings
- Select Halal Pesa
- Select Facilities
- Select Pay Facility
Follow the prompts to make a full or partial payment
If you are not in possession of the borrowing phone number:
- Go to Lipa na M-PESA
- Enter Paybill Number: 6059941
- For Account Number, enter the borrowing phone number (starting with 254…)
- Enter the Amount due (Principal + Profit)
