Fuliza
Ever tried sending money or paying a bill only to realize your M-PESA balance isn’t enough? Fuliza is an overdraft service that lets you complete your M-PESA transactions even when your account is short.
To use Fuliza, you must be registered on M-PESA with an active Safaricom line and you need to opt in to the service.
Eligibility
- M-PESA customers registered with a Kenyan ID, passport, or Military ID can activate Fuliza.
- Customers registered with a foreign passport cannot opt in.
- Once you opt in, you’ll be assigned a Fuliza limit, which is the maximum overdraft you can access.
- How to opt in
- Dial *334#
- Select Loans and Savings > Fuliza
- Select Opt In
With Fuliza you can:
- Request multiple times as long as it’s within your limit
- Send money to both registered and unregistered M-PESA customers.
- Pay for goods and services via Lipa Na M-PESA (Buy Goods and Pay Bill).
- Buy airtime for yourself or others through USSD or the M-PESA app.
Your Fuliza limit
- Your limit is assigned when you activate Fuliza, based on your usage of Safaricom and M-PESA services.
- You must have been active on the network for at least 6 months to receive a limit. Customers with less than 6 months of activity will have a zero limit.
- To grow your limit, use M-PESA frequently and repay your Fuliza balance on time by topping up your account.
- Limits may be reviewed up or down depending on your usage and repayment history.
Fuliza Charges
- A one-off 1% access fee is charged when you use Fuliza and a daily maintenance fee is applied from the next day at midnight.
- A 20% excise duty is applied to the daily maintenance fee. The Daily Maintenance fee is charged on the outstanding amount as shown on the table below:
