Impersonating Safaricom staff
A fraudster pretends to be a Safaricom employee or customer care agent with the aim of defrauding the customer. Fraudsters often call the customer from a personal line. In a number of these calls, fraudsters already know the targeted customer by name and other personal identifiers collected from various sources or unconsciously provided by the customer while on the call.
In this situation, one calls pretending to be working with Safaricom as one of their staff, requesting for personal details including your M-pesa pin.
In other circumstances, they may hack your mobile device in the process of their mischievous conversation.
To avoid this, kindly note that Safaricom staff will NEVER ask you to share your M-PESA PIN, SIM, passcodes or passwords
