For many, bones and horns from animals are waste. A self-help group in Kenya is turning this discarded material into beautiful jewelry.
For many, bones and horns from animals are considered waste. In the outskirts of Nairobi, a self-help group is turning these materials into intricate jewelry that celebrates Kenyan craftsmanship. With support from Safaricom's supplier development initiatives, the artisans have access to new markets and sustainable production techniques.
The collective now trains young people in polishing, carving and finishing, helping them build careers while reducing environmental waste.
