Matthew Wahome has been a golfer for 19 of his 27 years. After starting out on the greens at 8, inspired by his mum and dad who both play golf, Wahome turned pro at 21.
Well-spoken and very confident, the Nyali Golf and Country Club golfer believes that Kenyan golf is now on the right track.
“What I want the world to know about Kenyan golfers, is that we are here, that we are coming, and we are able. With the right help, like Team Safaricom, we can compete with them worldwide. Yes, sir!” is how Wahome put it on the sidelines of the first leg of the PGK Equator Tour played at the Ruiru Sports Club.
Wahome alongside Mutahi Kibugu (Nyeri Golf Club), Mohit Mediratta (Sigona Golf Club) and Samuel Njoroge (Railways Golf Club) form Safaricom’s team in the PGK Equator Tour.
