For the past one year, the Safaricom Choir has been keeping rehearsals going virtually and creating more musical experiences through the use of technology.

For months, the choir has learnt how to continue making beautiful music while meeting virtually and it’s no longer weird for the members to sing alone and hear their own voices while they practise at home.

Under the guidance of the choir’s new Music Director, Philip Tuju, they have begun recording a new album, which is scheduled to be released next year.

Recording an album, especially in the middle of a pandemic, is not an easy task. It will require a lot of creativity, collaboration with other music composers, songwriters and producers and ultimately the use of technology to tie it all together.

It takes creativity, diligence and hard work on the part of the new director, and he spoke to the Safaricom Newsroom about his work and his expectations.
